Play-based Math Activities

Looking for fun math activities to do at home? These step-by-step activity sheets are designed to support creative play that builds key math skills. Download our complete set of activities, or explore each one below. Use them with your own family, or share them with families through your library or home visiting program, as part of a packet for classroom parents, or through your community-based organization. 


Scavenger Hunts

These fun scavenger hunts are designed to help families “find math” in their everyday lives. Designed and piloted in collaboration with children’s museums, these hunts are ideal for use in museums, community centers, libraries and more. Use them with your own family and communities, or print them out and offer them as an additional activity in your community space. Each set of six hunts includes a hunt designed for infants and toddlers, one for “big kids,” and a printable sign to post.  


Educator's Guide

Designed for parents and educators, this guide covers six basic math concepts that are important for young children to learn. A great accompaniment to the Finding Math activities and scavenger hunts, this guide provides examples and tips on how to incorporate these key concepts into everyday activities.
